Through its 2022 Financial Education Call, it will support initiatives that increase the financial health of people in vulnerable conditions. The low financial literacy in Mexico creates an environment where people do not have the knowledge about making appropriate financial decisions, a low level of savings and over-indebtedness that negatively impact their quality of life. This is a situation that affects 67% of the population. Given this context, Nacional Monte de Piedad, IAP launches the second edition of the Financial Education Call, with which it seeks to support initiatives that increase the capabilities, habits, literacy and financial.
Health of people in vulnerable conditions, with the aim of favoring informed and timely financial decisions, and thus improving people's quality of life, through education programs or innovative methodologies such as behavioral sciences. The maximum amount to request per project is $350,000.00 MXN, and legally constituted non-profit organizations can Guatemala Mobile Number List participate, such as: Private Assistance Institution; Private Charitable Institution; Private Benevolent Association; Private Charitable Foundation; Civil association; Non Governmental Organization; Trusts; Universities, among others. The winning projects will be announced on August 18, 2022. Priority will be given to projects that manage to delimit their target population within vulnerable groups of the population that are in a position of financial insecurity.
In the first edition of this call, Nacional Monte de Piedad supported 5,116 people through 17 Civil Society Organizations that implemented these projects in favor of the financial life of vulnerable groups. “Through this call we hope that the impacted people will be able to develop positive financial habits, through strengthening their capacities, skills, and financial health. Nacional Monte de Piedad, IAP considers that to achieve a true change in behavior that impacts both households and the financial system as a whole, it is necessary that financial education strategies are not isolated, temporary or disjointed actions; but that they are actions related to each other, both within an institution and inter-institutionally, following structured planning and maintaining continuity over time,” said Alejandra Angarita, deputy director of Financial Inclusion at Nacional Monte de Piedad.
