Above the continent of Mota' Jei in the world of Tairachi, an extra furry/feathery white winged horse flew through the daytime sky with purpose and determination. Astride the equine was a scholarly Geldann who was dressed warmly and carrying bags with travel supplies, books, writing materials, and digging tools.
The two landed near what appeared to be a featureless natural wall at the base of a cliff. However, after the Geldann has dismounted, rested, eaten, and checked something from a book, he took a pickaxe from his supplies and started breaking open the rock wall. He nodded to the winged horse, who somehow changed into a minotaur, grabbed another pickaxe, and helped with the digging.
"I've really enjoyed the short time I have known you, Syos," said the Geldann as he worked. "Thank you so much for the information you gave me about Salgan, the Benefactor race, and the land the human inhabitants of Salgan originally came from. Greece must have been a fascinating place! It was great when you not only told me about the mythological creatures of Greece such as Pegasus and the minotaur, but also let me imagine you into their forms while you corrected the mistakes until I got it right. You've been a true friend, Syos! I can't thank you enough."
"The chance to serve others is the only reward that I, or any true Benefactor, desire, Ralney." Syos the Benefactor was clearly full of gratitude toward his Geldann friend. "It is I who can't thank you enough. It's because of you and your brilliance that we were able to pinpoint the location of the ancient interworld travel mirror. It's all thanks to you that I can soon travel back to Salgan and be reunited with my friends and family." The minotaur cried tears of joy.
Both members of the duo shouted with elation when they found the ornate mirror within a hidden cave. However, this was replaced with a scream of fear when some terrible creatures arrived.
"Excellent job," said one of the monstrosities to Ralney. "Thanks to your superb work as a researcher and spy, we have the mirror and we know how to render the protectors of Salgan powerless!"
"So, now do I get my reward?" asked Ralney.
"Of course," replied the other being as he tossed a huge sack of gems to the Geldann. "As we agreed, you will be rich beyond anything you ever hoped for the rest of your life." With an evil grin, he pointed the claws on his right hand at Ralney. "Too bad you have outlived your usefulness so the rest of you life will be very short!"
The Geldann gasped in horror as he realized he had been betrayed. "Let's get out of her!" Ralney yelled as he imagined Syos back into the arctic Pegasus form and quickly climbed onto his back.
Syos just barely managed to escape, but Ralney was not so lucky. Not bothering to worry about it, the horrific creatures used the mirror to enter the world of Salgan. One of them then looked to the Kitsu business partner who had accompanied the evil group, and made a wish. "I wish for nobody in Salgan to be able to transform Benefactors. I could have wished for the Benefactors to simply be eliminated, but now I can enjoy the delicious grief and sorrow as the beings who have served and protected the people of Salgan for so long are powerless to help them just when they really need it! While the vast majority of the Farok foolishly remain in Tairachi, my army will soon march upon this world, exterminate all sentient life here, and establish a new home world for the Farok from which we will strike back against all of Tairachi!"
The Kitsu granted the wish just before slipping back to Tairachi, finding Syos, and delivering a message. "Your foes just wished for nobody in your home world to be able to transform Benefactors, but they accidentally left a loophole. If you recruit some people who weren't in Salgan at the time, they could go to your home world and transform the Benefactors. You better hurry, pal! Oh, and here is a duplicate of the interworld travel mirror." With that, the two-timing trickster used his power to create a duplicate mirror for Syos with all of the same powers as the original. Then he left to watch events unfold as a spectator who didn't care which side won, but would enjoy watching to find out.
OOC: Syos's attempt to return to his home world met with disastrous results when he accidentally paved the way for an army of Farok to invade Salgan with little resistance. He needs help to save his home world! Everyone who comes to help will receive a Benefactor sidekick who can be imagined into other forms. This means that even "un-powered" characters will be able to help (though characters with special powers are just as welcome.) Please post if interested, because Salgan needs your help!
